Dog Days of Doggy Sickness

Our sweet little Harley was seeming sick back in November.  So I took him in for a check up and shots and we heard the dreaded news that he was heart worm positive.  OKAY I know the worst doggy parents ever.  We had not been giving him any preventative treatment for heart worm. He did test negative 6 months earlier.  When I first heard I thought ok lets do treatment and he will be good right?  Well it is more involved then just do treatments.  We did 3 months of preventative and he just had his first round of shots with two more rounds to go.  Now he has to stay calm and quiet for 30 days!!  REALLY Good thing he is OLD.

It has been a week and it is nerve racking and stressful.  Every move he makes we get worried.  We watch his breathing, his movements, and his noises.  I heard from the Vet yesterday that this is the mildest case of heart worm he has ever seen.  Which means Harley only has 2-5 worms!! What a blessing.  I was not sure I could handle knowing everything I saw on the internet might be happening to our first little buddy.

Hailey has always been a fan of Harley's and goes the same way with Harley being a fan of Hailey's.  Maybe it is b/c their names are so close!! J/K.  But since all of this has happened she has been so much more in tune to him and wants to love on him all the times.  We are praying for a full and fast recovery for our buddy.

Car Conversations

It has been so long since I wrote a blog post.  There are many things I wish I had written about so that I could be reminded later.  So I am starting now.

Today Hailey is celebrating The Last Supper at school.  She saw her food in the car and got very excited this morning.  She started talking about the Last Supper.  To hear the knowledge she has of God and who He is, is amazing and wonderful.

She proceeded to tell us that Jesus had his last meal with His disciples and He told them that one of them would betray Him that night.  We talked about who that would be.  And then Hailey told us that Jesus had to carry his cross through the streets and up a large hill and then guards nailed him to the cross.  I asked her if she knew why Jesus had to die on the cross and in her sweet child voice she said "to save us from our sin."  I love her faith in Christ in that young age and cannot wait to see what God does in her life.  Malachi continued the story and told us how Jesus was raised on the third day and He went to Heaven to get it ready for us.

Hailey talks a lot about God and who He is and how she wants to meet him.  This has scared a few friends from time to time because she will talk about how she would like to die so that she can meet God.  Sorry anybody who I have not warned and you thought maybe my child had suicidal thoughts!!  This morning she said that she really hopes that she is still on Earth so that she can meet God when He comes back to Earth.  We talked about, how we often do, that she will get to meet God when she dies only if she is a believer.  In that moment she screamed "I AM A BELIEVER."  I don't know if this is the child like faith or truly her coming to know Christ.  It is not for me to figure out right now but to guide her in the path she should go.  She reassures me that she has accepted Christ into her Heart and that she knows what sin is and that when we sin we have to confess our sins to God and He will forgive us.

This does bring up the question, How do you really know your young child has accepted Christ?  I know this is a talk we will have many times over because that is who Hailey is.  I love her with all my heart and cannot wait to see God's plan for her.

Unexpected Adventure

As the summer is coming to a close we headed off to watch the Fort Worth Cat's Baseball team.  Due to rain the game was canceled but that did not stop us from having some fun.

We took an unexpected trip to the Bontanical Gardens.  What a beautiful place.  We explored areas of the garden that we had never been to and some areas that we love as well.

First stop was to the neighborhood garden.  This was a cute little vegtable garden.  Much bigger than ours at home but with some of the same veggies.

A very cute little house that was just Hailey's size.  One day baby girl you will be the Mommy you want to be and live in a beautiful house of your own.

One of the best views in the Gardens I think.

These two are best of friends.

Sibling love

God put a huge silly bug in both of our loves.

Reach for the sky buddy.

Making memories is what we love to do weather big or small.

Tears and Cheers

I am taking today's post title from the breakfast served to the parents this morning at Malachi's school!   That is right we started Kindergarten today.

Our sweet "Big Guy" is officially a BIG GUY!  He walked into his school with confidence, ok maybe a little scared confidence.  As he held his daddy's hand this morning walking up to school he told us that he was a little scared.  What a big day for such a little guy, a new experience and tones of unknowns.

This year ahead will be full of learning, laughing, new friends, and growing.  He has already lost six teeth, grown three inches this past year, and has matured over the summer.  We cannot wait to see what else is in store for our Big Guy.

Malachi,

You are a gift from God.  He created  you to be unique, smart, handsome, funny, and full of life.  This is the start of a lot of learning and school for you.  Daddy and I pray that you take every experience and use them to develop into the young man God wants you to be.   No matter how old you are or how much you think Dad and I don't know please always remember we are here to listen about your day, your worries, and your excitement.

We love you Big Guy!

Here's to hoping you had a WONDERFUL first day of Kindergarten!

Pout Pout Fish "George"

Today was not one of those days I want to relive as a parent.  Our little punka dunny had some dental work done.  The work that needed to be done could only be done while she was put to sleep.

She was so great this morning, even a little excited about going to the dentist and going to sleep there.

The hard part started when the anesthesiologist came and gave her the shot of loopy medication.  My sweet little baby laid her head back on my and stared into space.  One of the worst feelings seeing your child lifeless and dazed and being carried away from you.

Only a few short, ok LONG 45 mins later the dr cames out to tell me everything went fine and she was done.  Then the anesthesiologist brought her to me.  She was not a happy loopy person!!!  Everyone told me to take video but unlike a teenager coming out of happy sleepy medication a poor little three year old baby cannot figure out what is going on.

She could not talk, she could not walk, and she could not open her eyes.  My poor baby was flopping around in my arms, crying without tears, and trying to scratch her tongue out.  This continued until we got home.  About 45 mins later she was able to shake her head when I asked her a question, which made this mama very happy.  She continued to feel better through out the day.  I finally got some fluid down her and some yogurt.  After lunch she was feeling pretty good and asked very excitedly to go shopping.  Our outing wore her out so we headed home for a two hour nap.

She ended the day playing with some friends and then a long awaited cuddle with her best daddy!!!

TBall

This year Malachi started TBall.  He has been practicing for a while in the backyard and we were finally ready for him to be a on a team.

We signed him up with his best buddy to make sure they were on the same team.

We had our first practice and it went pretty well for most of the kiddos.

Malachi practice hitting with Coach Chris.
Even pirates like to play baseball.

I will say it was a little chilly still in Texas for baseball but that did not stop this guy from getting out there and practicing his heart out.
FIRST GAME

Boys and their Toys

Since we cleaned out DB's house he grew up in he found some of his old toys.  The prized toys were the Teenage Muten Ninja Turtles.  This was very exciting with the fact that the Turtles are back in for our kids.  We have been saving them for a special time.  What better than a sleep over with Malachi's best bud.

Even H is enjoying some Turtle Time

What a great way to spent time at a sleep over.
